10 Things to Do After Saying “I Do”

Alright ladies, he popped the question. You said yes. Now the question to ask yourself is: what to do next?

No idea? Read right away!

Inform your relatives

Your first task: share the exciting news with everyone you know starting from those who are closest to you (parents, siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles, etc.). Sending a mass message is convenient, but not heart-warming enough to convey such a personal news. Do the good old fashion way: pick up the phone, make a call. Let them feel your excitement and joy of embarking into a new journey.

Get your ring sized

Now that you’ve insured your ring, get the ring size right. It might sound redundant to be reminded of but hey, you will be wearing it for a lifetime, so make sure the size is not too loose (you sure do not want to lose it) and not too tight (wearing an engagement ring should not make you feel like a torture).

Talk about the wedding plan with your fiancé

Sit down, have a chat with your fiancé, and tell him the kind of wedding you have in mind. Where do you prefer it, when would you like to host it, who would you like to invite, and how many people you would like to see attending. Start talking about a brief skeleton of the wedding plan to put both of you in the right mindset of what to be expected.

Wedding expenses

After getting a brief idea of the wedding plan, make sure you discuss about the wedding expenses. While money talk might not be romantic, it is nevertheless necessary for couples to make sure their financial abilities are on par with the wedding expectations. Breakdown the items and estimate them based on the standard you are looking at. Be practical.

Guest list – ask your parents

Make sure to include your parents in the initial stage of wedding planning so that they do not feel left out. They are just as excited as you to invite people closest to their hearts to witness your big day! Give them a headcount you prefer and let them plan their guest list, then work from the list to reduce or add more guests.

Wedding date

It is never too late to set a wedding date considering most of the wedding venues are booked a year ahead of the wedding day. Have a few options in mind based on the availability of your guests, select the most suitable date, then go ahead and remind your friends to block the date to attend your wedding.

Wedding planner- yes or no?

Review the wedding plan that both of you have drafted and decide if you can handle these: finding the right vendors, meeting them, negotiating the price, supervising invitation card designs, organizing table plans. Discuss the cost to hire a wedding planner. If the cost is too much to bear, discuss with your family and friends to see how to work on delegating the wedding responsibility.

Plan a night out with your fiancée

Wedding planning is going to be stressful. There will be a lot to do but for now, celebrate the “just us two” moment with your fiancée. Have a night out for romantic date. Talk not about the wedding but you two: all the small little details that make your relationship memorable and special to remind yourself how beautiful it is that you are going to marry the person you love.

Chillax!

You said yes, and it is the happiest moment of your life so – chill and relax! Manicure, spa, makeover, shopping – do whatever makes you feel good to celebrate this important moment in your life.
